Middlebury College’s new, 110,000-square-foot Field House is now scheduled for completion by mid-January 2015. The Field House will feature a six-lane, 200-meter indoor track with a 60-meter straightaway for sprints and dedicated areas outside the oval for high jump, long jump, pole vault, and throwing events. It has been under construction since the spring of 2013 on the site of the former Fletcher Field House and its successor, The Bubble.

Middlebury College has finished 10th in the 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup race. The Panthers had earned 10-straight top-five finishes, winning its first cup in 2011-12. Williams won its second-straight and 17th overall title with 1,225 points, followed by Wisconsin-Whitewater (1,134), Johns Hopkins (977) and Washington-St. Louis (924). Middlebury finished with 752 points, fourth among NESCAC schools, as Amherst was fifth (914) and Tufts placed seventh (799).

The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has announced its 2014 Spring All-Academic Selections. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and be a varsity letter winner with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.35. A transfer student must have completed one year of study at the institution.

The New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Spring All-Sportsmanship Team for each spring sport sponsored by the conference. The All-Sportsmanship Team is composed of one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team for their positive contributions to sportsmanship.

The NESCAC is one of the most competitive conferences in the country. With that being said, the students from the Conference's member institutions would like to show unity in how we represent and cheer for our schools, as well as how we all compete against each other. The students who wear the "We are NESCAC" shirts to this afternoon's men's basketball NESCAC quarterfinal game against Hamilton will be given free admission. There will also be a sportsmanship statement read by a student-athlete at halftime.

It's been another solid beginning to the winter season for Middlebury College Athletic teams. The Panthers boast the second-ranked women's ice hockey team in the country with a 6-1 mark and the lone setback at the hands of the top-ranked team. Men’s basketball sits at 6-2 and is currently ranked No. 18 in Division III.

Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Dain McKee as the school’s first Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. McKee comes to Middlebury from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he recently served as the school’s assistant sports information director.

For the second consecutive season, Middlebury College will partner with the Northeast Sports Network (NSN) for live video coverage of Panther sporting events. NSN will provide free live streaming of nearly 100 home Middlebury athletic contests in 2013-14.

Middlebury College has announced the hiring of Judd Mackey as an athletic trainer for the Department of Sports Medicine. The Middlebury native joined the staff in August of ’13 after working for the college on a part-time basis for three years.
