The Middlebury College women's hockey team remained unbeaten on the season as they earned a 1-1 tie with Connecticut College in the team's home-opener in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers outshot the Camels 50-11 on the night, but were able to get just one shot past Lauren Mellen, who made 49 saves on the night.
The Panther swimming and diving teams hosted their first meet of the season as Amherst visited the Middlebury College natatorium. The Panther men were defeated 176-110, while the women fell 170-126.
The Middlebury College women's basketball team held off a second half comeback by Castleton, picking up a 63-56 road win in overtime. Castleton led 19-17 with 6:38 remaining in the first half, but Middlebury used a 17-4 run to close out the frame and take a 34-23 lead into intermission. Junior Kaitlyn Fallon (Swarthmore, Pa.) keyed the run, scoring seven of her team-high 17 points during the span.
The Panther men's squash team picked up two more wins as they won two matches on campus. Middlebury earned a 9-0 win over the University of Vermont, before handing Bard a defeat by the same score.
The Middlebury College men's hockey team remained undefeated in the first semester of play with a pair of league wins on the road.
The Panther men's basketball team entered the semester break on the right foot with three straight wins last week to improve to 7-2 on the season.
The Middlebury College women's squash team had an impressive weekend at the Wesleyan Round Robin Tournament last weekend. The Panthers played five matches, earning five 9-0 wins, including a victory over Vassar, who defeated Middlebury 7-2 at the Walker Cup a year ago. The Panthers also earned wins over Wesleyan, Wellesley, William Smith and Smith.
