The Panther women's basketball team opened up its season with a 65-47 loss to The College of N.J. at the Stevens Tournament in N.J. The Panthers led 27-26 at the half, but could not hold on as the Lions out-scored Middlebury 39-20 in the second session.

Senior Emily Johnson (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) led the Panthers with 11 points, while junior Kaitlyn Fallon (Swarthmore, Pa.) scored 10 on 5 of 10 shooting from the floor. Sophomore Allison Needham (Lexington, Mass.) has a team-high seven rebounds, while junior Roz Vara (Marshfield, Vt.) pulled down six.

Middlebury dropped its second game at the Stevens Tournament to the host school by a score of 65-55. The Panthers were led by a 19-point effort from senior Ashley Barron (Brockton, Mass.), who went 6 of 12 from the floor and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in the game. Sophomore Lauren Sanchez (Seattle, Wash.) scored 10 for the Panthers with five assists, Fallon netted eight, while Johnson had seven points and five assists.
