Cross Country Teams Compete In Albany

The Middlebury College cross country teams were in action at the University of Albany Invitational meet on Saturday. The meet featured teams from all around the region, in Divisions I, II and III. The men were impressive with a sixth place finish among 22 teams, while the women placed second overall in the 24-team event.

The men continue to enjoy one of their most impressive seasons in school history, finishing third among Division III teams. Senior Jack Wambach (Evanston, Ill.) led the men with a 27th place finish in 25:51, followed by junior Peter Hoffman (Rochester, Minn.) in 37th place in 25:57. Sophomore Jack Terrett (Sherborn, Mass.) was next for the Panthers in 38th place (25:57), followed by senior Rainey Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) in 42nd (26:02) and senior Peter Murphy (Wilton, Conn.) in 52nd (26:17).

The women's team finished second to Brown, while defeating nine Division I teams. First-year racer Elise Moody-Roberts (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was the team's top finisher, placing 13th overall with a time of 18:21. Finishing 21st in the race was rookie Chelsea Ward-Waller (San Antonio Texas) with a time of 18:35, followed by classmate Cate Brown (Hanover, N.H.) in 25th (18:41.5). Placing 26th overall was first-year player Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) in 18:41.8, followed by sophomore Sophia Spring (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) in 38th place (18:54).
