The Middlebury College men's tennis team opened the week with its sixth straight match as the fourth-ranked Panthers (14-2) stepped out of conference play for an 8-1 win over 19th ranked Washington & Lee. The Panthers took two of three doubles matches before sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets. Senior Conrad Olson (Waterloo, Belgium) was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at #1 singles over Jamie McCardell, the son of former Middlebury College President John McCardell.

On Sunday, the Panthers returned to league play with an 8-1 win over Tufts. Middlebury had little trouble with the Jumbos, taking a 3-0 lead after doubles play. The Panthers won five of six singles matches in straight sets, including a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 by rookie Derrick Angle (Troy, N.Y.).
