INDOOR TRACK TURNS IN SOLID PERFORMANCES AT M.I.T.

The Panther indoor track team had several athletes in action at the M.I.T. Invitational over the weekend. The women's 4x400 relay team comprised of sophomores Katy Magill (Boxford, Mass.) and Grace Close (Fox Point, Wis.) along with rookies Julia Sisson (Omaha, Neb.) and Rebecca Fanning (Ipswich, Mass.) won the event with a time of 4:08.74.

Setting a new school record and winning the 600 was sophomore Kaitlynn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine), who finished with a time of 1:38.38. Also winning events for the Panthers were first-year racer Claire McIlvennie (Ithaca, N.Y.) in the 3,000 (10:40.06), sophomore Christina Kunycky (Marlborough, Mass.) in the 800 (2:23.92) and sophomore Erin Toner (New Providence, N.J.) in the mile (5:26.38). Sophomore Sophia Spring (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) finished second (10:44.71) in the 3,000, as did rookie Jessi Stevens (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the mile (5:27) and senior Kelley Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) in the triple jump (36'7.5"). Senior Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) came in fourth (8.70) in the 55 hurdles, followed by first-year athlete Mia Martinez (Ridgewood, N.J.) in fifth (8.81).

Senior Ben Fowler (Bethesda, Minn.), sophomore Addison Godine (Milton, Mass.) and rookies Jason Mooty (Eden Prarie, Minn.), Jason Jan (Basking Ridge, N.J.) made up the winning men's 4x400 relay team, that finished with a time of 3:31.97. Godine was a winner in the 600 (1:26.87), Jan came in second in the 400 (53.46), while junior Victor Guevara (Short Hills, N.J.) earned a second place finish in the mile (4:31.67).
