The Panther men's squash team returned to action after the break with a pair of 9-0 home losses to Williams and Dartmouth. The Panthers then hit the road on Sunday, dropping a 9-0 match to Bates at Williams.

The Middlebury College indoor track teams opened up their season by competing at the 40th Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H. Several Division I, II and III teams were in action, along with some clubs and individuals.

The Panther men's hockey team split two NESCAC/ECAC East games last weekend at Kenyon Arena. Castleton picked up its first win in five tries against Middlebury as the Spartans earned a 2-1 win over the Panthers. The Spartans held a 21-19 shots advantage on the night.

The Middlebury College women's basketball team picked up two wins in three games last week as they competed in three non-league games. Middlebury led 32-24 at the half and held on for a 63-56 win at Plattsburgh on Tuesday night. The Panthers shot 44 percent from the floor, held a 39-30 edge on the boards and overcame 24 turnovers in the win.

The Panther women's squash team opened up '09 with a pair of 8-1 losses at home to Williams and Dartmouth. The Panthers turned it around the next day with 5-4 wins over Bates and Mt. Holyoke at Williams. The Panthers began the season ranked 18th nationally and have now climbed to the 15th spot with some impressive wins.

The Middlebury College men's basketball team earned three more non-league wins last week to improve to 12-2 on the season. The week began with a 68-64 road victory at Plattsburgh. The Panthers fell behind several times in the game, but continued to battle back. Middlebury overcame poor shooting from downtown, going just 5 of 32 from behind the arc, while hitting just 9 of 20 free throws. The Panthers combined for 22 assists and eight blocked shots on the night, as they trailed 33-27 at the half.

The Panther swimming and diving teams opened up '09 with a pair of wins over Colby. The men were 181-89 winners, while the women picked up a 179-101 victory. The next day, Middlebury made it two straight wins as they completed a weekend sweep of Maine schools. On Sunday, the men defeated Bates 230-57, while the women were 210-89 winners.

The Middlebury College women's hockey team earned a NESCAC road win as the Panthers scored twice on the power play on its way to a 2-1 win over Colby at Alfond Rink. Middlebury held a 33-11 shots advantage in the game and will return to action at Bowdoin on Saturday.
