Middlebury sophomore Brittany Perfetti (Clifton Heights, Pa.) opened the second half with a three, building a double-digit lead as the Panthers cruised to a 66-42 win over WPI at Pepin Gym on Sunday. With the victory, Middlebury (4-3) extended their win-streak to four in a row, while the Engineers drop to 7-4 on the season. In the first-ever meeting between the two schools, Middlebury went 5-7 from behind the arc and held a 38-22 rebounding advantage.
The Panther men's basketball team is off to its best start in school history after a 63-52 road win over Rensselaer to open the second semester. Senior Tim Edwards (Greenwich, Conn.) posted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, as three other players added double-digits in points to lead the seventh-ranked Panthers in non-conference action at East Campus Arena.
The Middlebury College men's hockey team captured the 18th annual Middlebury College Holiday Classic with a 5-2 win over Southern Maine in the title game. Sophomore Martin Drolet (Lachaine, Que.) notched three goals with three assists over the two days to earn tournament M.V.P. honors. Babson defeated Salve Regina 5-1 earlier in the day to win the third-place game.
