The Middlebury men's and women's swimming and diving teams turned in impressive performances at the recent NCAA Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The men came in seventh among 58 scoring teams with 180, their highest finish in 11 years. The women placed 18th with 69 points among 51 scoring teams. Middlebury's John Dillon (Wellesley, Mass.) was named the male swimmer of the meet after capturing two NCAA titles.
The Middlebury College men's lacrosse team won two more games last week to improve to 3-0 on the season. The Panthers are ranked fifth in the latest national poll. The week opened as Middlebury earned a slim mid-week victory over Springfield 6-5.
The Panther women's lacrosse team built an 8-2 lead in the first half and did not allow homestanding Wesleyan to get closer than four the rest of the way as the Panthers defeated the Cardinals, 14-7. It was the 10th consecutive victory for Middlebury over Wesleyan as the Panthers have yet to drop a game to the Cardinals since first meeting in 2001.
