Junior Louis Belisle (Repentigny, Que.) tied the school’s modern day record for goals (4) and points (6) in a game as 11th-ranked Middlebury (3-1-2, 2-0-2) earned a 9-2 win over Tufts (3-3-1, 1-2-1). The last Panther to score four in a game was Matt Snyder in November of ‘01, while the last six-point effort came from David Bracken in February of ’00.

The Middlebury College men’s squash team earned two more wins, topping #20 Bowdoin at Dartmouth 5-4, before coming home to defeat #24 Drexel by the same score. The 13th-ranked Panthers improve to 5-1 overall and will be idle until January when they return to action at the Williams Round Robin.

The Middlebury College women’s hockey team outshot Trinity 45-21 but had to settle for a 1-1 road tie in game one of a two game series on Saturday. Trinity’s Hillary McNamara scored the game-tying goal with 12:14 left in the third period and goaltender Alexa Pujol finished with 44 saves in the game.

The Middlebury College men’s basketball team connected on 11 of 17 (.647) from three-point range on its way to a 96-60 win over Southern Vermont (0-4) in their home-opener in Pepin Gym. The fourth-ranked Panthers (5-0) saw senior Peter Lynch (Westford, Mass.) and junior Jack Roberts (Moylan, Pa.) combine to score 39 points on 18-21 shooting from the floor in the win.

The Middlebury College women’s basketball team came on strong late but it wasn’t enough, as the Panthers fell 62-60 at Castleton in Glenbrook Gym on Tuesday evening. The Spartans led for the entire second half but saw their lead shrivel to just one, 59-58, on a layup by junior Scarlett Kirk (San Francisco, Calif.) with 41 seconds left in the half.

The Panther swimming and diving teams hosted Amherst in the squad's first home meet of the season. The Middlebury women were defeated 162-132, while the men fell 208-86. The team returns to action next Saturday at Springfield in the final meet of the semester.

The Panther women’s squash team won its only match of the week as the 11th-ranked Panthers earned a 7-2 victory over #23 Drexel at home on Sunday. Middlebury had little trouble in the match, earning five three-set victories as well as wins in all three exhibition matches. The Panthers are now idle until they return to action in January at the Williams Round Robin.
