The Middlebury College men’s basketball team used excellent long-distance shooting (7-14) and perfection from the free throw line (17-17) to pull away from visiting Skidmore in a non-league contest, 74-53, in Pepin Gym.
The Panther women’s basketball team opened the game on a massive 23-2 run, on the way to a decisive 72-44 win over Norwich in the Panthers home-opener at Pepin Gym on Tuesday. The Cadets (4-3) managed to cut the deficit to 15 before the Middlebury lead bulged to 31 points in the second half.
The Middlebury College women’s hockey team picked up a 3-0 road win at Castleton (6-3-1) to improve to 5-1-1 on the season. The fourth-ranked Panthers end the semester unbeaten in their last three games.
The Panther swimming and diving teams ended the semester with a meet at Springfield. The women were narrowly edged 153-147 at the meet, while the men fell 162-131.
Junior Ben Wiggins (Cambridge, Mass.) scored 31 seconds into overtime, lifting 11th-ranked Middlebury to a 5-4 victory over Hamilton (1-4-2, 1-3-1) in Kenyon Arena.
