The Middlebury College cross country teams took part in the 2012 ECAC Championship hosted by Williams. The Middlebury women won the 41-team event, while the men were fifth among 43 squads. The Panthers were resting several of their top racers, with the NCAA Regionals slated for next Saturday.

Junior Lucy Whipps (Portland, Ore.) finished second overall in the women's race, covering the course at Mt. Greylock High School in 22:57. Sophomore Summer Spillane (Shelburne, Vt.) and rookie Olivia Artaiz (Banks, Ore.) finished sixth (23:23) and seventh (23:27) respectively, while senior Juliet Ryan-Davies (Newton, Mass.) and first-year racer Kate Leib (Morristown, N.J.) came in 10th (23:32) and 11th (23:38).

The men's team was paced by rookie Sebastian Matt (New Albany, Ohio), who placed 18th with a time of 27:17. Coming in 25th place was rookie Samuel Cartwright (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) (27:30), followed by classmate Lucas Carpinello (Delmar, N.Y.) in 32nd (27:40). Senior Mac Stormont (Atlanta, Ga.) earned a 33rd place finish for the Panthers in 27:41, while first-year racer Aaron deToledo (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) rounded out the scorers in 55th place (28:10).
