LEUNG REPEATS AS ITA REGIONAL CHAMP

Sophomore Lok-Sze Leung (Hong Kong) repeated as ITA Regional Champion at MIT by defeating her own teammate, rookie Ria Gerger (Houston, Texas), 6-0, 6-0 in the finals. Leung dropped just 17 games over six matches, winning each of her contests in straight sets. With the victory in the 64-person bracket, Leung advances to the ITA National Championship tournament later this fall.
Gerger had an impressive ITA debut, winning three straight-set matches before advancing to the finals with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Kate Pollan of Williams in the semifinals.
Junior Dorrie Paradies (Atlanta, Ga.) won a pair of matches before falling 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 16.
In doubles play, Gerger and senior Leah Kepping (Northport, N.Y.) advanced to the semifinals of the 32-team bracket, before falling 8-5. Leung and rookie Lauren Amos (Tucson, Ariz.) won twice before being eliminated in the quarterfinals, 8-6.
