October 22, 2012
The Middlebury College women's tennis team hosted the Panther Team Cup on campus over the weekend. The Panthers, along with several Division I schools, competed in three-point matches, with duos earning a point for a singles win as well as one for a doubles victory. Middlebury sophomore Lok-Sze Leung (Hong Kong) and first-year player Ria Gerger (Houston, Texas) defeated Marissa Aviles and Maria Bernandez of Providence 2-0 in the finals, with the doubles match not contested.
Another Middlebury pair was eliminated by the champions in the quarterfinals, 3-0. Sophomore Katie Paradies (Atlanta, Ga.) and first-year player Margot Marchese (Summit, N.J.) had previously advanced to the quarterfinal round after a 3-0 win over Providence in the first round.
