CROSS COUNTRY BEGINS SEASON AT DARTMOUTH

The Panther cross country teams opened their season by taking part in the Dartmouth Invitational. In an event comprised of Division I teams, the Middlebury women were fifth behind Georgetown, Dartmouth, Syracuse and UConn. The Panther men were third, trailing Syracuse and Dartmouth in a three-team race.

            Senior Jack Davies (Grosse Point, Mich.) was the top finisher for the men, coming in 22nd overall with a time of 25:37. Two spots behind was senior Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.) in 24th place (25:52), followed by junior Nate Sans (Princeton, Mass.) in 27th place (26:03). Sophomore Kevin Wood (Lincolnshire, Ill.) and junior Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.) rounded out the scorers in 29th (26:11) and 35th place (26:44) respectively.

            Leading the Panther women was senior Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.), who came in 45th place overall with a time of 23:38. She led the pack of five Panthers with the next four racers finishing 47-50. Leading the group was sophomore Alison Maxwell (Port Angeles, Wash.) in 23:50, followed by sophomore Summer Spillane (Shelburne, Vt.) in 48th place with a time of 23:53. First-year racer Katherine Tercek (Los Angeles, Calif.) was just behind in 49th (23:54), followed by classmate sophomore Cate Costley (Williamstown, Mass.) in 50th (24:16).
