 The Middlebury College women's volleyball team opened up its 2012 season with a split on day one of the Endicott Tournament. The Panthers dropped their opener 3-0 (23, 24, 17) to UMass.-Boston, before coming from two sets down to defeat the host school, 26-28, 22-25, 25-14, 27-14, 15-10.

Against UMass.-Boston, juniors Amy Hart (Kenilworth, Ill.) and Megan Jarchow (Cos Cob, Conn.) paced the team with eight kills apiece, while seniors Caitlin Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) (24) and Julia Gibbs (Houston, Texas) (13) were the leaders in digs. Gibbs added 24 assists in the opener.

In the five-set marathon against Endicott, Hart finished with 17 kills, followed by Jarchow with 14 and senior Madeline Firestone (Solvang, Calif.), who earned a dozen. Barrett (26), Gibbs (14) and sophomore Lizzy Reed (Cazenovia, N.Y.) (10) led the squad in digs, while Gibbs dished out 53 assists.

Middlebury finished up 3-1 overall at the Endicott Tournament, picking up a pair of victories on day two. The Panthers earned a 3-1 (25-19, 25-8, 22-25, 25-14) win over Plymouth State to start the day, followed by a 3-0 (24, 18, 20) victory over Susquehanna.

Hart led the team with 16 kills and five service aces against Plymouth, while Jarchow had 10 kills. Gibbs contributed 19 digs and 41 assists, sophomore Piper Underbrink (Ocala, Fla.) had seven blocks, while Barrett earned 13 digs. 

Jarchow (12 kills) and Hart (9 kills) were the leaders against Susquehanna, with 34 digs from Gibbs and 18 from Barrett.
