The Middlebury men’s lacrosse team has won its first five games, rising to 14th nationally in last week’s Division III poll. The Panthers broke open a 2-2 game with nine second-half goals on its way to an 11-4 road win at St. Lawrence on Wednesday evening.
Middlebury finished up competition at the 2013 NCAA Swimming and Diving NCAA Championships in Shenandoah, Texas on Saturday night. The Middlebury women finished 27th among 52 scoring teams, while the men were 37th among 47 squads with at least one point.
The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never trailed, on its way to a 12-8 win over Rensselaer (3-1) on Kohn Field. Three different players scored for Middlebury to open the game before Rachel Scofield found the back of the net with a bouncing shot on a free position attempt.
The Middlebury men’s basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 77-65 loss to North Central in the NCAA Quarterfinals in Salem, Virgina. The Panthers end their season with a 25-4 record, as the senior class graduates with more wins than any other group in school history (104).
