            The Middlebury College track and field teams began their spring season with annual meets at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California. In a full meet on the 24th, the Panther women were first among 10 teams, while the men placed third.

            Senior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) won the 1,500 in the first meet, finishing with a time of 4:37.82. Also earning wins were junior Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.) in the 5,000 (17:35.69) and sophomore Lauren Pincus (Upper Montclair, N.J.) in the javelin (123’11”).

            On the men’s side, junior Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.), junior Jack Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and senior Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) finished one, two, three in the 5,000.  Hebble won the event in 3:58.49, followed by Davies (3:58.89) and Schmidt (3:59.93).

            The second meet was comprised of mostly athletes from Middlebury and Point Loma. Cramer earned two more wins, capturing the 800 (2:16.01) and the 3,000 steeplechase (11:08.79). Just behind her in the 800 was senior Rebecca Fanning (Ipswich, Mass.) in 2:17.78.

            Senior Marc Delaney (Wading River, N.Y.) was solid for the men in field events, with three impressive finishes. Delaney won the shot put with a toss of 40’10.5”, while placing second in the discus (117’6”) and hammer (140’8”). Overall, Middlebury captured 17 different events during the second meet.
