SWIMMING AND DIVING DOMINATES UNION

            The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams had little trouble with Union, as the Panther men and women picked up victories at home. The women's team earned a 226-67 win and took all but one event, while the men earned a 174-124 victory.

            Four different women won two events on the afternoon, including senior Katherine Loftus, (Madison, Conn.), who captured both the 200 free (1:56.47) and 500 free (5:11.23) races. Junior Nora Daly (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) picked up wins the 100 fly (1:01.55) and 100 free (54.63), while sophomore Andrea Tibbetts (Dover, Mass.) earned victories in the 50 (28.09) and the 100 back (59.18). Middlebury’s other multi-event winner was rookie Jamie Hillas (Woodbridge, Conn.), who won both the 100 breaststroke (1:06.74) and 100 IM (1:02.33).

            On the men’s side, senior Nick Daly (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and rookie Chris Vandiford (Springfield, Ohio) both picked up two victories. Daly won the 50 fly (23.58) and 50 free (21.40), while Vandiford won the 100 (1:00.64) and 50 breaststroke (28.16) races.
