Junior Lauren Greer (North Hampton, N.H.) scored the game-winner 6:17 into overtime to lift Middlebury to its seventh NESCAC title with a 1-0 victory over Amherst. The Panthers (21-3-3) receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while the Jeffs move to 21-5-1. This was the fourth NESCAC Championship meeting between the schools, with three of the games going into overtime.

The Middlebury College men’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA Sectionals after an 89-73 win over Albertus Magnus in a regional final game played at Middlebury College. The Panthers (26-3) will make their second-straight trip to the sectional next weekend, when they take on Scranton, while Cabrini meets Eastern Connecticut State.

The Panther indoor track teams The Middlebury College indoor track teams took part in the 2012 ECAC Indoor Championships hosted by Rutgers-Newark. The Panthers came away with a pair of ECAC Champions at the event, with senior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) capturing the mile in 4:51.28.

Middlebury’s hope for a ninth NESCAC title came to an end as Amherst  won its second title. The Jeffs overcame a 2-0 deficit by scoring four consecutive goals and getting clutch saves from Jonathan La Rose en route to a 4-3 win at Orr Rink.
