The Middlebury College ski team was the top Division III school, placing ninth overall at the 2012 NCAA Skiing Championships hosted by Montana State University. The Panthers enjoyed a huge final day by the men’s alpine team, as the Panthers placed three in the top 12 to win the slalom, with a pair of All-Americans.
The Panther women’s distance medley relay (DMR) took home its second straight NCAA title competing at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships hosted by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.

Travis Farrell hit a three at the buzzer to give the University of Scranton a 58-55 upset victory over host Middlebury in an NCAA Sectional game played before a sellout crowd of 1,200 in Pepin Gym. The Panthers, who saw a 25-game home winning streak snapped, end the 2011-12 season with a 26-4 overall record.
The Middlebury College women’s lacrosse team started a 5-0 run late in the first half to pull away from No. 18 Bates women's lacrosse team for a 12-7 win Saturday at Garcelon Field, in the NESCAC opener for both teams. The ninth-ranked Panthers, who were playing their season-opener, return to action at Connecticut College next Saturday.
The Middlebury College men’s lacrosse team used a 4-0 run in the fourth quarter against visiting Bates, pulling away for a 7-1 victory at Kohn Field. With the season-opening win, the eighth-ranked Middlebury squad is 1-0 overall and holds a similar NESCAC record.
