WEEKS COMPETES AT NCAA’S

May 14, 2012

Panther senior Flora Weeks (Seattle, Wash.) finished in a tie for 14th place among 101 golfers at the 2012 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship. The 72-hole event was held at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.

Weeks carded a +8 round of 80 to close out the four-day event with a total of 311. Catherine Wagner of Wis.-Eau Clair took the individual title, finishing with a 302. In the team scoring, Methodist made it 15 titles in a row, coming in at 1242, six strokes ahead of second place DePauw’s 1248.

After opening on the back nine with a birdie, Weeks struggled a bit recording four bogies through the first eight holes. She then parred five straight before bogeying four out of the final five to close the tournament. Weeks’ 14th place finish matched her NCAA-best finish achieved in 2009.

The NCAA Tournament capped a stellar senior season for Weeks, with her winning five events. She opened the year with a fifth place finish at St. Lawrence this fall, before picking up wins at Mt. Holyoke, N.Y.U. and Williams. Weeks opened with a victory this spring at Vassar, before placing fifth at Amherst. Weeks ended the regular season with a win at the Williams Spring Invitational on April 29th.
