Nine Track Athletes Headed To NCAA's

Nine members of the Middlebury College track and field teams have qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships. The events take place May 24-26 on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripts in California at the Fritz B. Burns Stadium. Six women and three men will represent the squad at the championships.

Senior Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) has qualified in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races. He is the top-ranked runner nationally in the 10K with a time of 29:23.62, while ranking seventh in the 5K (14:20). Junior Jack Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) is the nation’s top seed in the 3,000 steeplechase, owning a time of 8:56.41. Also competing for the men is junior Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.), who will race in the 1,500.

Senior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) will compete in both the 800 and 1,500 meter races. She is currently the top-ranked racer in the 1,500, owning a time of 4:21.45. Junior Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.) will compete in the 5,000, earning the seventh seed with a time of 16:53.74.

Senior Mia Martinez (Ridgewood, N.J.) has qualified in the 100 hurdles, while junior Juliet Ryan-Davis (Newton, Mass.) will race in the 800. Also competing for the women are junior Grace Doering (Darien, Conn.) in the high jump and sophomore Lauren Pincus (Upper Montclair, N.J.) in the javelin.
