Fresh off their new spot atop the national poll, the Middlebury men’s basketball team cruised to a 90-46 win over Johnson & Wales (1-5) in Pepin Gym. The Panthers shot a red-hot .581 from the floor in the first half, ending the game with just four turnovers.
The Panther women's hockey team doubled up Manhattanville 36-18 in shots, but had to settle for a 2-2 tie in the semester finale at Kenyon Arena. The third-ranked Panthers remain unbeaten at 5-0-2 on the year, while the Valients move to 4-4-2.
The Middlebury College swimming and diving teams finished up the first semester with home meets against Springfield. The Panther women picked up a 177-123 win, while the men were edged, 156-146.
The Panther women’s basketball team ended the first semester with a 64-51 loss at Skidmore (5-1). The Panthers (3-4) will not return to action until a January 2nd game with Tufts at the Maine Maritime Tournament.
The Middlebury College men’s hockey team ended its semester with a 4-3 loss at Amherst in overtime. Brian Safstrom broke a 3-3 tie just 32 seconds into the extra session to lift the #14 Jeffs to a hard-fought win over #8 Middlebury at Orr Rink.
