The second-ranked  Panther men’s basketball team moved to 5-0 on the season with a 107-51 drubbing at Southern Vermont.  In the first five minutes Middlebury ran out to a nine point advantage, and never allowed Southern Vermont to lead in the game. SVC cut the gap to 10 with eight minutes remaining in the first half, but Middlebury outscored SVC 23-9 in the final minutes of the half to take a 48-24 lead at the break.

It was all Middlebury in the second half, as the Panthers outscored SVC 59-27 to run away with the game.

First-year player Dean Brierley (Morristown, N.J.) led Middlebury with 20 points (7 of 9) as junior teammate Peter Lynch (Westford, Mass.) chipped in 19 (7 of 9). Also, in double figures was rookie Hunter Merryman (San Marino, Calif.) with 10 points and eight boards. Sophomore James Jensen (North White Plains, N.Y.) scored nine points with seven boards, while sophomore Jake Wolfin (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) earned six assists.

S. Vermont’s leading scorer Taeshon Johnson, who entered Tuesday's game averaging 26 points per game, was held to eight by the Panther defense.
