Junior Rachel Madding (Hillsborough, Calif.) finished off a scrum in front of the Bowdoin net 6:34 into overtime to give the visiting Middlebury women's soccer team a 3-2 victory on Saturday. The Panthers move to 3-1-1 (2-1-1 NESCAC) the victory.

The Panther women’s golf team earned a second place finish among 14 teams at the Mount Holyoke Invitational. For the second straight week, senior Flora Weeks (Seattle, Wash.) earned medalist honors with a 148 (+4). Weeks shot a 73 on the first day of play, following that up with a 75 on day two.

 The Middlebury College men's tennis team was in action at the 2011 ITA Regional Championships hosted by Williams. The tournament is comprised of a 64-man singles bracket and a 32-team doubles bracket, with winners advancing to the ITA National Championship.

The Panther cross country teams took part in the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams on Saturday afternoon. The women won the 16-team race, while the men were third among 16 schools competing.

The Middlebury College men’s golf team earned a fourth place finish with a 616 at the two-day Williams Invitational. Salem State won the event with a 592, followed by Manhattanville and Williams.

The Middlebury College women's volleyball team played a pair of matches at the Amherst Classic over the weekend. On Friday night, Middlebury fell to 5-4 on the year with a 3-2 (16-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20, 15-10) loss at the hands of Coast Guard. The Panthers bounced back on Saturday, topping Brandeis 3-0 (10, 20, 21).

In a rematch of last year's NESCAC Championship and NCAA Regional Final, the Bowdoin and Middlebury men's soccer teams played to a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears move to 3-1-1 (0-1-1 NESCAC) this fall while the Panthers stand at 1-2-2 (0-2-2 NESCAC).

Matt Coyne scored on a draw play running to the right from nine yards out with 1:57 left in the contest to lift homestanding Wesleyan past Middlebury in the season-opener for both squads, 16-15. Middlebury led 15-7 entering the final period, but a 34-yard field goal by Sebastian Aguirre with 13:04 to go in the game cut the margin to 15-10.

Ella Curren drilled home a penalty corner with 9:51 remaining in overtime on Saturday afternoon to give the fourth-ranked Bowdoin field hockey team its fourth consecutive win to open the season. The eighth-ranked Panthers fall to 2-2 while the Polar Bears increase their record to 4-0.
