TRACK AND FIELD IN ACTION AT SPRINGFIELD

            The Panther track and field teams returned to action in New England on Saturday, taking part in the Springfield Invitational. The Pride won the meet, followed by the Panthers and the Polar Bears of Bowdoin.

            Sophomore Jack Davies (Grosse Point, Mich.) qualified for the NCAA’s in the 3,000 steeplechase, wining the event with a time of 9:21.44. Also picking up wins for the men were sophomore Stuart Fram (Waterbury Center, Vt.) in the 110 hurdles (15.55), sophomore Patrick Hebble (Sudbury, Mass.) in the 800 (1:57.55) and junior Jason Jan (Basking Ridge, N.J.) in the 400 hurdles (56.49).  The 4x400 relay team of Jan, senior Addison Godine (Milton, Mass.), rookie Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.) and senior Connor Wood (Lincolnshire, Ill.) earned a win with a time of 3:27.17.

            Five different women won events at Springfield, including junior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.), who picked up a victory in the 800 (2:14.52). Winning the high jump once again was sophomore Grace Doering (Darien, Conn.), who cleared 5’5.25” to earn the title. Senior Kaitlynn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine) won the 400 hurdles (1:05.41), junior Claire McIlvennie (Ithaca, N.Y.) was victorious in the 5,000 (17:52.98), while rookie Kathleen Rominger (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up a victory in the 1,500 (4:50.05).
