The Middlebury College men’s basketball team saw its record-breaking season come to an end with a 59-57 loss to #8 St. Thomas (29-3) in an NCAA semifinal contest played at Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia. The second-ranked Panthers end their season with a record of 28-2, the most wins in school history.

The Panther women’s hockey team fell 5-2 at host R.I.T. (26-1-2) in the NCAA semifinals on Friday night. The Tigers scored three times in an eight minute span in the second period to open a 3-0 lead.

Middlebury scored the final three goals of the game earning a hard fought 13-9 victory over visiting Springfield on Wednesday afternoon at Kohn Field. The fifth-ranked Panthers improve to 2-0 on the young season, while the Pride drops to 2-3 with the non-conference loss.

Middlebury broke open a 1-1 game against visiting Wesleyan with a five-goal run in the first half en route to a 15-5 win over the Cardinals at Kohn Field on Saturday. The 13th ranked Panthers improve to 2-0 on the year, with both victories against NESCAC opponents, while Wesleyan drops to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Panther women’s tennis team earned a 9-0 win over #20 Rochester in an indoor match played on Saturday. Middlebury entered the match ranked 12th nationally, having little trouble in doubles play, dropping just four games.
