TRACK AND FIELD OPENS IN CALIFORNIA

            The Panther track and field teams opened up their spring season with a meet at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego California. The men won the 12-team meet, while the women were second among a dozen teams.

            Junior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) picked up a win in the 3,000 steeplechase, earning an NCAA provisional time of 11:02. Also provisionally qualifying in the event was senior Amanda Lee (Lincoln, Neb.), who came in second in 11:06.66. Earning a win in the 800 was sophomore Juliet Ryan-Davis (Newton, Mass.) in 2:14.18, while senior Erin Toner (New Providence, R.I.) was second in the 1,500 (4:43.06). Other top performers for the women were rookie Colette Whitney (High Bridge, N.J.) in the 5,000 (17:57.73-2nd), junior Mia Martinez (Ridgewood, N.J.) in the 100 hurdles (15.40-2nd) and sophomore Grace Doering (Darien, Conn.), who provisionally qualified for the NCAA’s in the high jump (5’5”-2nd).

Senior Addison Godine (Milton, Mass.) and sophomore John Davies (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) both earn wins for the men, with Godine taking the 800 (1:55.32) and Davies capturing the 5,000 (5:03.60). Senior Jack Terrett (Sherborn, Mass.) finished second in the 5,000 (15:16), followed by rookie Greg Krathwohl (Ipswich, Mass.) in third (15:22.70) and sophomore Anthony Lee (Plainsboro, N.J.) in fourth (15:23.93). Junior Silas Wong (Needham, Mass.) placed second in the triple jump (44’5.25”), first-year racer Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.) was fourth in the 100 (11.26), while sophomore Stuart Fram (Waterbury Center, Vt.) came in fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.63). Junior Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) competed in the 5,000 at Stanford, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA’s with a time of 30:38.15.
