The Middlebury College men’s swimming team placed 10th overall with 126 points among 48 scoring teams at the 2011 NCAA Championships at the University of Tennessee. Denison won the title, knocking off perennial power Kenyon.
Trailing 2-1 in the second quarter against Connecticut College, Middlebury went on a 6-0 run on its way to a 12-4 victory at Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The seventh-ranked Panthers improve to 3-1 on the year and 2-1 in NESCAC play, while the Camels fall to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in conference action.
Middlebury outscored Babson 10-4 in the second half on its way to a 14-6 win over the Beavers (3-5) on Kohn Field on Thursday. The 13th-ranked Panthers improve to 3-0 on the season, with senior Sally Ryan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) surpassing the 100 career goal mark in the game.
The Panther track and field teams opened up their spring season with a meet at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego California. The men won the 12-team meet, while the women were second among a dozen teams.
