The Middlebury College men’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA Sectionals for the first time, after a 79-53 win over Western Connecticut State in a second-round game. The second-ranked Panthers set a new school record with 26 wins in a season, against just one loss. Middlebury will next meet Rochester in the sectionals on Friday, March 11th, while Buffalo State battles St. Mary’s (Md.) in the other sectional contest at Rochester.
Middlebury won its sixth NESCAC Championship as the Panthers (21-4-1) held off a late flurry by Amherst to pick up a 4-3 win in the title game played in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will host Manhattanville in an NCAA Quarterfinal game on Saturday, March 12th at 7:00.
The Middlebury College indoor track teams raced at the ECAC Championships hosted by N.Y.U. The women finished eighth among 45 scoring teams, while the mean were 23rd with 53 scoring squads. Top eight finishers earned All-ECAC honors.
