TRACK AND FIELD COMPETES AT NEW ENGLAND’S

            The Panther track and field teams took part in the 2011 New England Championships hosted by M.I.T. The Middlebury women were 10th among 29 scoring teams, while the men were ninth with 31 teams scoring. Top eight finishers earned All-New England honors.

            Junior Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) was the New England Champion in the 800, winning the event with a time of 2:12.68. Three other Panthers also earned All-N.E. honors in the 800, with sophomore Juliet Ryan-Davis (Newton, Mass.) placing second (2:13.45), sophomore Sarah O’Brien (Wellesley, Mass.) coming in seventh (2:17.41) and senior Cailey Condit (Leverett, Mass.) placing eighth (2:18.74).

            Junior Mia Martinez (Ridgewood, N.J.) set a new school record with a time of 14.97 in the 100 hurdles, placing sixth overall. In the 1,500, sophomore Addie Tousley (Kensington, Md.) finished fourth (4:41.12), while senior Sophia Spring (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) came in sixth (4:43.39). Middlebury also boasted two All-N.E. racers in the 400 hurdles, with senior Alice Wisener (Ridgewood, N.J.) coming in sixth (1:05.81) and first-year racer Morgan Childs (Castleton, Vt.) placing eighth (1:06.28). Also earning All-N.E. honors were sophomore Emily Dodge (Auburn, Maine) in the long jump (6th-17’8.75”) and sophomore Kara Walker (Swansea, Mass.) in the heptathlon (8th-3,733 points).

            The Middlebury men placed two runners in the top eight in the 1,500, with sophomore Jack Davies (Grosse Point, Mich.) placing second (3:53.33) and sophomore Patrick Hebble (Rumson, N.J.) coming in third (3:53.82). First-year racer Peter Hetzler (Rumson, N.J.) came in fifth in the 200 (22.52), senior Addison Godine (Milton, Mass.) was sixth in the 800 (1:55.85), while rookie Kevin Chu (Burlington, Vt.) came in seventh in the 110 hurdles (15.45). Also earned All-N.E. honors were senior Donovan Dickson (Austin, Texas) in the 3,000 steeplechase (7th-9:31.01( and rookie Jason McCallum (San Diego, Calif.) in the long jump (8th-21’5.5”).
