MEN'S TENNIS DOMINATES AT DARTMOUTH

The Panther men's tennis team was impressive at the Dartmouth Shootout over the weekend, competing against several Division I and III teams. Senior Andy Peters (Baltimore, Md.) won the 16-man "A" singles flight, with three straight-set victories. His opponent in the finals was rookie teammate Teddy Fitzgibbons (Mission Hills, Kan.), as Peters came away with the 6-2, 6-3 win. The first-year player picked up a key victory along the way, topping highly ranked Austin Chafetz of Amherst.
The "C" singles flight also saw a pair of Panthers advance deep into the bracket. Sophomore Spencer Lunghino (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) won the flight, earning a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the finals. First-year player Zach Bruchmiller (San Antonio, Texas) also did well, winning a pair of matches before falling 1-6, 6-0 (8) in the semifinals.
In doubles play, Peters and first-year player Brantner Jones (Winnetka, Ill.) won the eight-team "A" bracket with a tight 8-7 (9) victory in the finals. The duo battled back from down 3-6, fighting off five match points en route to the win.
The duo of Lunghino and sophomore William Oberrender (Edina, Minn.) also captured a title, winning the "D" doubles bracket with an 8-6 victory in the finals. Taking home the "E" flight doubles title were first-year players James Burke (Summit, N.J.) and Andrew Lebovitz (Weston, Mass.), who earned an 8-3 win in the finals. Fitzgibbons and Bruchmiller won a pair of matches in the "B" flight, before falling in the finals 8-7 (2).
