Middlebury's new hockey home sports a 200' X 95' ice surface and seats 2,600 spectators. The rink also includes several wheelchair spaces, and allows for several hundred standing room viewers. Spectators sit in comfort with the rink heated to 55 degrees as they enjoy state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. A full concessions area is located at the rink concourse and entry corridor levels. A large kitchen and pantry provides food to the concessions area as well as other functions in the facility.
A 60-foot press box offers over 20 seats for the media, as well as several camera positions with bird's-eye views of the rink. A hockey coaching staff suite with four offices, along with three additional offices, and a 1,000 square-foot classroom provide space for the athletic staff. The rink also boasts a 3,200 square-foot lounge with a balcony overlooking the Green Mountains.
An ice resurfacing room is home to a battery operated surfacing machine and an ice melting pit. State-of-the-art technology captures waste heat to preheat water for the ice resurfacing machine, to maintain a frost-free area under the rink, and to assist with the snow melting in the resurfacing room.
Nine varsity team rooms, along with a halftime room, serve several of Middlebury's athletic teams. The arena also encompasses a 3,500 square-foot sports medicine center, a 2,300 square-foot equipment room, and a central laundry room.
Numerous windows help illuminate the arena with natural light. The new entry at the concourse level allows easy access to all of Middlebury's athletic facilities, including the second level of the natatorium, which now has seating for an additional 400 people.
