
Two members of the Middlebury College baseball team earned All--NESCAC honors when the league announced its post-season team. Senior Zach Roeder (Keene, N.H.) and junior Tom Rafferty (Chicago, Ill.) both earned a spot on the second-team after the Panthers finished up with a 14-19 mark this spring.
The Middlebury baseball team wrapped-up its season, dropping a pair of games at Tufts on Sunday afternoon. A six-run first inning by the Jumbos in game one, and a Kevin Gilchrist shutout in game two, powered Tufts to the sweep, winning the seven inning games by scores of 6-4 and 6-0.
Middlebury fell 5-2 in game one but battled back for a 2-1 victory in the second game to earn a split with Bowdoin (22-16) on Forbes Field. The Panthers (14-17) wrap-up their season on Sunday at Tufts, while the Polar Bears host Suffolk.
Middlebury dropped a non-league game on Thursday, falling to the Panthers of Plymouth State. The host school used six pitchers combined to limit Middlebury to seven hits in a 5-0 win at Panther Park.
Castleton State broke open a 2-0 game with six runs in the sixth inning, on its way to a 13-0 win over Middlebury in a non-conference game on Forbes Field. The Panthers return to action on Thursday at Plymouth State, while the Spartans will play in the NEAC Championship series this weekend.
