
On Sunday, September 25th, the Middlebury College baseball team made a trip to Bethel, Vermont to lend a hand to some of the victims still struggling to clean up from the devastation caused by hurricane Irene. Their eyes were opened wide by what they experienced.
Middlebury College baseball player Zach Roeder (Keene, N.H.) has been named District I Academic second-team All-American by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors Association). Roeder is an economics major at Middlebury, currently boasting a GPA of 3.42.
Middlebury College baseball players Zach Roeder (Keene, N.H.) and Tom Rafferty (Chicago, Ill.) have both earned All-NESCAC honors. The duo helped lead the Panthers to their second NESCAC Tournament appearance this spring, finishing with a record of 15-16.
The Middlebury baseball team saw its season come to an end with a 7-2 loss to Amherst in the NESCAC Tournament. Amherst junior Kevin Heller smashed a grand slam to left center field, breaking a 3-3 tie in the top of the eighth inning to lift the Jeffs to the win in a game played at AIC Park in Springfield, Mass. The Panthers end their season with a 15-16 mark.
Tufts junior starter Dave Ryan tossed seven strong innings, while senior David Orlowitz tied a tournament hit record, going 5-5 with three RBI, as the NESCAC East Division champion Jumbos downed Middlebury College 14-2 in the opening round of the conference championship at AIC Park in Springfield, MA.
