Amherst Takes Game One
April 8, 2005
4/8/05 - Amherst starter Chris Edgar pitched six strong innings, and Nick Kehoe added three innings of scoreless relief to lead the Amherst College baseball team to a 7-4 victory in the first of a three-game set against visiting NESCAC West Division rival Middlebury College on Friday.
Trailing 3-2 early on, Amherst broke the game open with a five-run flurry in the bottom of the fifth, keyed by a two-run single by Jared Banner and a two-run double into the right-center-field gap by Tom Scott. Scott then scored on a fielder's choice to cement the rally.
After Edgar gave up a run in the sixth, Kehoe came on in the top of the seventh and shut the door the rest of the way.
Chris Fraser drew the start and took the loss for Middlebury, surrendering seven earned runs on nine Amherst hits in 4.1 innings. Jack Britton added 3.2 innings of one-hit relief. Noah Walker paced the Panthers offensively with a double, two singles, a run scored and two RBIs.
