Lanahan Is Named Player Of The Week

Middlebury College baseball player John Lanahan (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week for the second time this season. Lanahan hit a torrid .786 during the 2006 NESCAC Baseball Championship over the weekend, leading Middlebury to its first-ever conference title in its first appearance in the tournament. The sophomore scored six runs, while hitting a double and a key two-run homer in the title game against Tufts on Sunday. Lanahan also drove in eight runs and had an on-base percentage of .812 through the three tournament games.

Middlebury will makes its first NCAA Tournament appearance this week when they travel to Harwich, Massachusetts on Cape Cod to take part in the NCAA New England Regional from May 17-21.
