Lefeber & Shimrock Earn NESCAC Honors

Senior Nick Lefeber (Branford, Conn.) and junior Mark Shimrock (Lansdale, Pa.) have both been named to the All-NESCAC second-team. The duo were part of a Middlebury team that won 14 games this season, against 16 losses, including a solid 8-6 mark on the road.

Lefeber earns All-NESCAC honors for the third time in his four seasons at Middlebury. The senior catcher hit .393 this year, scoring 37 runs, hitting six doubles, while driving in 20 runs. Lefeber led the team with 22 walks and a .513 on-base percentage. Lefeber capped off an impressive career at Middlebury in '08, finishing at the top of several of the school's all-time lists. Lefeber finished second in at-bats (415) and hits (158), was first in runs scored (129) and fourth in walks (58).

Shimrock had an impressive season for the Panthers at first base, ending the year with a team-high .421 average at the dish. The junior had nine doubles, three triples and five homers this season, while his 44 RBI were second all-time in a single-season at Middlebury. He also slugged at a .669 clip, while tying the school's single-season record with a .996 fielding percentage at first base.
