Middlebury College baseball senior captain Alex Kelly (Rockville, Md.) has earned second-team All-NESCAC honors. Garnering his first all-conference laurel, the fourth-year Panther led the team and ranks fourth in the NESCAC in hitting this year with a .383 average, while pacing the squad in several other offensive categories.
Kelly started all 29 games this spring, mainly patrolling the Panther outfield. He recorded team-highs with 44 hits and 25 runs scored. The leftfielder finished the season first on the team in both slugging percentage (.452) and on-base percentage (.427).
Kelly opened the season in Arizona with five-straight multiple-hit games, going 15 of his first 23 (.652). He posted an 11-game hitting streak this season from March 29 through April 23, and recorded 12 games with at least two hits. Twice in a game this spring, Kelly produced perfect 4-4 efforts at the plate, and also went 4-5 with four runs scored against California Tech on March 24.
In his career, Kelly appeared in 101 games with 97 starts. He batted .340 (124-365) with 66 runs scored and 40 RBI, inducing 21 walks with 10 stolen bases.
