Ski Team Finishes Eighth At NCAA's

3/12/05 - The Panther ski team placed eighth overall at the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Vermont. Denver won the event, while Middlebury was third team in the top eight from the east.
First-year racer Megan Hughes (Killington, Vt.) became the school’s fifth female NCAA Champion in an alpine event, as she captured the slalom championship with a time of 1:25.49. Senior Jessica Smith (Rockport, Maine) placed 19th in the race (1:30.29), while sophomore Tara Martin (Lyndonville, Vt.) came in 30th (1:38.33). Martin placed 12th in the GS in 2:01.35, while Smith and Hughes did not finish.

Ski Teams Host Carnival

2/26/05 - The Middlebury College men’s and women’s alpine and nordic ski teams hosted the EISA Championships this past weekend at the Rikert Ski Touring Center and the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. The Panthers finished the event in third place, as they have in all six carnivals this season.

2/21/05 - Middlebury will host the 2005 EISA Skiing Championships on February 25th and 26th. Here is the schedule of events:

Panther Skiers Third At Williams

2/19/05 - The Panthers made it five third place finishes in five carnivals as they placed third at the Williams Carnival. Middlebury will host the Eastern Championships this weekend at the Rikert Ski Touring Center and the Snow Bowl.

Ski Teams Finish Third, Again

2/12/05 - Third place is becoming a common thing for the Panther alpine and nordic ski teams. Middlebury placed third for the fourth straight week, trailing Vermont and Dartmouth at the Big Green’s carnival.

2/5/05 - The Middlebury College alpine and nordic ski teams finished third for the third straight week as they raced at the University of Vermont carnival. Dartmouth won the event, followed by Vermont.

1/29/05 - The Panther alpine and nordic ski teams finished third for the second straight week as they raced at the St. Michael’s Carnival. Vermont won the event, followed by Dartmouth.

Panthers Open Carnival Season With Third Place Finish

1/22/05 - The Middlebury College alpine and nordic ski teams opened up the carnival circuit with a third place finish at the Bates Carnival in Maine. Vermont won the season-opener, followed by Dartmouth and Middlebury. The men’s and women’s classical relay races were cancelled, due to the cold temperatures.
