Describe your initial reaction upon seeing the campus and athletic facilities for the first time:

First of all, it isn’t very often that you come across a college with its own Ski Mountain.  Not to mention the world class hockey rink, numerous beautifully kept fields, and awesome workout facilities- all back dropped by the gorgeous Green Mountains.  I guess if I were to sum it up, a school ten times our size would be fortunate to have such amazing facilities.  We are very lucky!

What is the one thing that makes Middlebury College a special place for you?

Without question, the people!  The friends I have made here, both in sport and in school, are irreplaceable.  I can definitely say they are lifelong friends and Middlebury has given me the chance to meet such amazing people.

What is your best memory as a player at Middlebury College?

The first time our ski team won a carnival.  It was my freshmen year and the team had placed a consistent third for the past 28 years.  To come onto the team and win the first carnival I ever raced in is an unforgettable moment.  As a team, and personally, we couldn’t have been happier and I will never forget the feeling of accomplishment after a long fall of hard work. Plus, we went on to finish the season 5-1 and that is pretty unforgettable as well!

What have you learned from your sport that you will use in your everyday life?

Perseverance.  Whether you are winning or losing, I have learned to never give up.  I tore my ACL at Middlebury Carnival last year and have worked harder then ever before in my life to come back and be successful.  Just working that hard has given me such satisfaction with myself that the end results seem much less important now.  Although, as my Dad always says, "It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, as long as you win!"  So I plan on coming back stronger after my injury and will never forget to persevere throughout my life.
