Ski Team Finishes Fifth At NCAA's

The Middlebury College ski team turned in an impressive fifth place finish at the ’08 NCAA Championships hosted by Montana State. The finished tied the highest ever for Middlebury as they scored a school-best 529 points at the event. Denver won the NCAA title with 649.5 points, followed by Colorado (619), Utah (550) Dartmouth (546) and Middlebury (529). The Panthers were second only to Dartmouth among eastern school’s, while ranking as the top D3 school at the races.

Ski Team In Fifth Place After Day Three At NCAA's

The Middlebury College ski team is currently in fifth place after the third day of competition at the NCAA Skiing Championship hosted by Montana State. Colorado (483) moved back into the lead, replacing Denver (465.5) who dropped to second, while Utah (429), Dartmouth (412), and Middlebury (401) round out the top five. Friday’s nordic event was the 15K classic race for the women and the 20K classic for the men.

Ski Team In Fourth Place On Day Two At NCAA's

The Middlebury College ski team is currently in fourth place after the second day of competition at the NCAA Skiing Championship hosted by Montana State. Denver (316.5) has taken over first place, followed by Utah (288), while day one leader Colorado (282) dropped to third, as Middlebury (279) holds onto fourth place. Thursday's event was the giant slalom race for both the men and women, with the men placing third overall.

Middlebury Off To Good Start At NCAA's

The Middlebury College ski team is currently in a third place tie after one day of competition at the NCAA Skiing Championship hosted by Montana State. Colorado (186) leads the event, followed by Northern Michigan (153), Middlebury (141), Denver (141) and Dartmouth (141). Today’s nordic event was the 5K freestyle race for the women and the 10K event for the men.

Ski Team Heads To NCAA's

Montana State University will be the host of the 55th NCAA Men’s and Women’s Skiing Championships March 5-8, 2008. Alpine events will take place at Bridger Bowl, while the Nordic races will be held at Bohart Ranch. Middlebury is only one of three teams (Dartmouth, Utah) in the country that will send a full team of six skiers on both the alpine and nordic side.

Skiers Earn All-East Honors

Nine members of the Middlebury College ski teams have earned All-East honors based on their performances this season. The group helped lead the Panthers to second place finishes in five of six carnivals this season, with an impressive win at the UVM Carnival in ’08. All nine members have also qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships, being held from March 5-8th at Montana State University.

Bartlett Is Coach Of The Year

Middlebury College alpine coach Stever Bartlett has been named the EISA Alpine Coach of the Year. The second-year head coach led the Middlebury alpine team to some impressive finishes during this past carnival season, including a win at the UVM Carnival. Bartlett qualified a full team for the upcoming NCAA’s in Montana, after some top finishes during the year. He also helped lead the Middlebury men to the "Dartmouth Cup" this year, for winning the combined total score or nordic and alpine at the EISA Championships. The Panthers previously won the award in '04 and '73.

Middlebury Places Second At Own Carnival

Middlebury skied its way to a second place finish at their own carnival, the EISA Championships. The Panthers hosted the events at the Rikert Ski Touring Center and the Middlebury College Snow Bowl. Dartmouth won the races with 928 points, followed by Middlebury (906), UVM (868.5) and UNH (796). The men's GS team won its event, while the men's slalom, women's 5K free and women's 10K classic events saw Middlebury place second.

Ski Team To Host EISA Championships

Middlebury College will once again be the host site for the 2008 EISA Skiing Championships on February 22nd and 23rd. The alpine races will be held at the Snow Bowl, while the nordic races will take place at the Rikert Ski Touring Center.

Panthers Finish Second At Williams Carnival

The Panther ski team finished second for the fourth time in five carnivals as they accomplished the feat at the Williams Carnival over the weekend. Dartmouth (617) won the event, followed by Middlebury (608), UNH (587.5) and UVM (558.5).

Ski Team Places Second At Dartmouth

The Panther ski team followed up an impressive win at the UVM Carnival last week with a second place finish at the Dartmouth Winter Carnival. The host school won the event with 725 points, followed by Middlebury (697), UVM (664) and UNH (647).

Ski Team Wins UVM Carnival

The Middlebury College ski team turned in an impressive performance as they captured the University of Vermont Carnival. The Panthers finished with 628 points, followed by UVM (624.5), Dartmouth (604) and UNH (513). Middlebury placed second in six of eight events, winning the women’s slalom and placing third in the men’s freestyle sprints, where junior Tim Reynolds (Bristol, Vt.) won the event.

Ski Team Finishes Second at St. Lawrence

The Middlebury College ski teams earned a second place finish at the St. Lawrence Carnival. Dartmouth won the event (587.5), followed by Middlebury (555), UVM (527.5) and UNH (459). Andrew Wagner led the Panthers with a win in the slalom.

Brush Foundation Continues To Roll

Thanks to all those who willingly rode, soaked and soggy, in the Kelly Brush Century Ride this fall, their sponsorships and donations generated approximately $88,000 in proceeds. There were several things notable about this ride: the number of riders involved, their enthusiasm despite the weather, and the dollar amount raised in the end. But what’s even more notable is how this money will be used.

Ski Teams Place Second At Opening Carnival

The Middlebury College nordic and alpine ski teams opened up the ’08 carnival circuit at the Bates Carnival in Maine. The Panthers finished second only to Dartmouth, followed by Vermont, New Hampshire and Bates.

Nordic Racers Compete At U.S. Nationals

The Middlebury College nordic ski team was busy in the New Year, with athletes competing at the 2008 U.S. Cross Country Championships hosted by Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan. The races took place from January 1-6, with 16 Middlebury men and women competing. The Panthers finished second in the combined College Cup, their best finish in school history.
