Women's Track Competes At NCAA's

Three members of the women’s track & field team were in action at the NCAA Championships last week hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.) may have turned in the top performance in the 10,000 meters. The sophomore finished ninth overall, setting a new school record with a time of 36:15.01. Senior Mary Frederickson (Florham Park, N.J.) competed in the javelin, finishing in 12th place with a toss of 129’10”. Senior Claire Schultz (W. Barnstable, Mass.) finished the 800 with a time of 2:13.21, but her time did not qualify her for the finals.

Track Athletes Headed To NCAA's

Three Middlebury College women will head to the 2007 NCAA Championships this weekend in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Seniors Claire Schultz (W. Barnstable, Mass.) and Mary Frederickson (Florham Park, N.J.) and sophomore Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.) have qualified. The championships will take place from May 24-26th on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Team In Action At M.I.T.

The Panther track & field teams were competing at M.I.T. over the weekend in their final chance to qualify for the NCAA’s. Middlebury received a couple of impressive performances, led by junior Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.), who won the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:01.4. Senior Meira Lifson (Edina, Minn.) was impressive in the pole vault, clearing 10’ to finish in second place.

Track Competes At Open N.E.'s

The Middlebury College track & field teams were in action at the Open New England hosted by Dartmouth over the weekend. Thirty-three division I, II and III schools from New England were in action at the meet.

Panthers In Action At New England's

The Panther track & field team competed at the New England Championships hosted by Springfield last weekend. Senior Claire Schultz (W. Barnstable, Mass.) won the 800, capturing the event with a time of 2:16.9.

All-NESCAC Track & Field Announced

Eighteen members of the men's and women's track & field teams were honored by the NESCAC. By virtue of their performances in the championship meet at Middlebury, the following athletes earned all-conference honors.

Women Second, Men Fifth At NESCAC Track & Field Championships

Middlebury College hosted the 2007 NESCAC Championships at the Allan Dragone Track & Field Complex on Saturday. The Williams women won their seventh consecutive title, while Tufts and Williams shared the men’s title. The Williams women finished with 201 points, followed by the host school from Middlebury (147.5), Tufts (102), Bowdoin (88) and Amherst (79). Williams and Tufts both finished with 197.5 points on the men’s side, followed by Bates (95), Bowdoin (62) and Middlebury (53).

Middlebury To Host NESCAC Track &Field Championship

Middlebury will host the 2007 NESCAC Track and Field Championships at the Allan Dragone Track and Field Complex on Saturday, April 28th.

Track Competes At Dartmouth

The Panther track and field teams returned to action after a two week layoff by taking part in the Dartmouth Invitational. Three women won events on the day, while a pair of school records were broken.

Butcher Qualifies

The Middlebury College track and field teams saw their meet cancelled on Saturday due to poor conditions. Junior Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) was looking to qualify in the 10,000 meters, a race not often run in New England during the spring. Butcher traveled to the prestigious Mt. Sac Relays in California on Friday, qualifying for the D3 New Englands, Open NE's, ECAC's, and NCAA's in the event with a time of 30:53.90.

Track & Field Competes At Springfield

The Middlebury College track and field teams were in action in Massachusetts over the weekend, competing at Springfield College. Four Middlebury women won events on the day, including senior Beth Butler (Bronxville, N.Y.), who captured the 800 with a time of 2:18.09.

Track Opens Spring Season In California

The Middlebury College track and field teams were in action in San Diego on their annual spring break trip. The Panthers competed twice at Point Loma, earning some impressive finishes along the way.

Butler Earns All-American Honors

  Senior Beth Butler (Bronxville, N.Y.) competed at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Butler, who was ranked 14th going into the championships, finished the 800 in fourth place with a time of 2:13.97. Her finish earned her All-American honors, while breaking her own school record.

Butler Earns All-N.E. Honors

Senior Beth Butler (Bronxville, N.Y.) turned in a great performance for the Middlebury women at the Open New England Championships last weekend at Boston University. Butler finished seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:16.13. Her time was a new school record, earned her All-New England honors, while also qualifying her for the upcoming indoor NCAA’s.

Indoor Track Competes At N.E.'s

The Panther indoor track teams both competed in the New England Indoor Championships over the weekend. The women competed at Southern Maine, while the men were at Bates. The women placed ninth overall with 19 teams scoring, while the men sent just a handful of athletes to Bates.

Panthers Compete At M.I.T.

The Panther indoor track teams were in action at M.I.T. over the weekend, competing with over 10 teams at the M.I.T. Invitational.

Indoor Track Races At McGill

The Middlebury College indoor track teams were in action at McGill University in Montreal over the weekend. Sophomore Susanna Merrill (Frederick, Md.) and senior Beth Butler (Bronxville, N.Y.) both qualified for the Division III New England’s with impressive times in the 1,000 meters.

Middlebury Competes At UVM - Two School Marks Broken

The Middlebury College indoor track teams took part in a three-team race with McGill and the University of Vermont on Friday. Sophomore Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) picked up a win in the 55 hurdles in 8.66, while first-year racer Anjuli Demers (Dracut, Mass.) won the 300 meters in 42.45. Sophomore Simone Weisman (Newton, Mass.) was also a winner, capturing the 600 meters with a time of 1:41.12.

Indoor Track Races At Tufts

The Panther indoor track teams were in action again this week as they took part in the Tufts Invitational. Three more Middlebury athletes qualified for New England’s with impressive performances at the races.

Indoor Track Teams Open Season

The Panther indoor track team began its winter season on Sunday as they took part in the Dartmouth Relays. Seven different Middlebury athletes scored in the meet, with all of them qualifying for the N.E. Indoor Championships later this season.
