Krieg With Impressive Finishes At NCAA's

Middlebury College track and field athlete Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.) turned in a pair of impressive performances at the 2008 NCAA Championships at Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The junior qualified in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races, earning All-American honors in both events. On Thursday, Krieg competed in the 10,000 meter race, breaking her own school record with a time of 35:54.09, good for fourth place. On Saturday, Krieg was solid once again with a seventh place finish in the 5,000, finishing with a time of 16:59.37

Athletes Compete At ECAC's

A handful of Middlebury College track and field athletes competed at the ECAC Championships hosted by Springfield College. Three different athletes earned All-ECAC honors, led by senior Jennifer Currie (Milton, Vt.), who finished fourth in the hammer with a toss of 158’3”. First-year racer Sophia Spring (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) earned honors with a seventh place finish in the 1500 (4:42.09), as did senior Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) in the 10,000 with an eighth place finish (31:25.22).

Panthers Compete At Open N.E.'s

A dozen members of the Middlebury College track and field teams took part in the Open New England Championships at UNH over the weekend. The meet consisted of Division I, II and III teams throughout New England.

Track & Field Competes At N.E.'s

The Panther track and field teams competed at the Division III New England Championships at the Coast Guard Academy over the weekend. The Middlebury women placed fourth among the 28 teams scoring, while the men earned a 19th place finish. Senior Jennifer Currie (Milton, Vt.) was the lone individual N.E. Champion, capturing the hammer with a toss of 158’5”. The women’s 4x800 relay team comprised of senior Kate Hirschboeck (Coto De Caza, Calif.) and rookies Kaitlynn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine), Sophie Spring (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) and Christina Kunycky (Marlborough, Mass.) won the N.E. title with a time of 9:20.30.

Several Panthers Earn All-NESCAC Honors

A dozen female and three male Middlebury track & field athletics earned All-NESCAC honors, based on their performances at the 2008 NESCAC Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Championships at Hamitlon. The top three finishers in each event during the championship were deemed All-NESCAC.

Track & Field With Good Showing At NESCAC's

The Middlebury College track and field teams took part in the 2008 NESCAC Championships hosted by Hamilton College on Saturday. The Middlebury women placed third overall in the 10-team meet, while the men came in seventh. Four athletes took home NESCAC Championship honors, with senior Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) capturing the 10,000 meters on the men’s side with a time of 32:06.55. Senior Jennifer Currie (Milton, Vt.) won the hammer throw for the women with a toss of 159’10”, while rookie Nicole Dvorak (Essex, Vt.) was a winner in the pole vault (10’8 ¾”). Middlebury’s other winner was junior Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.), who captured the 5,000 meter race with a time of 17:37.64.

Track & Field Headed To NESCAC Championships

The 2008 NESCAC Track & Field Championships take place this Saturday at the Walter H. Pritchard Track & Field Complex on the campus of Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. Williams College has won the last seven NESCAC Women’s Track & Field titles and 15 overall, while the Men’s Track & Field crown was shared for the first time in championship history by the Ephs and Tufts University last April.

Track Teams Compete At Dartmouth

The Panther track and field teams took part in a five-way outdoor meet at Dartmouth over the weekend. Middlebury turned in some impressive performances, as they competed against Division I schools Dartmouth, UNH and UVM. The women’s 4x100 relay team comprised of senior Elizabeth Huntley (Coralville, Iowa), junior Jen Katz (Winchester, Mass.) and sophomores Laura Dalton (Simsbury, Conn.) and Anjuli Demers (Dracut, Mass.) set a new school record, placing third with a time of 49.54.

Butcher Is Performer Of The Week

Middlebury College track & field athlete Jimmy Butcher has been named the NESCAC Men's Track Performer of the Week. Butcher finished ninth in the 10,000-meter race at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell. His time was a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA's.

The Middlebury College track and field teams hosted the Middlebury Invitational on Saturday, with teams from Bowdoin, Springfield and Colby-Sawyer competing. The Panther women placed second of four teams, while the men placed third.

The Middlebury College track and field teams opened the season with their annual spring break trip to San Diego. The Panthers competed in two meets in California, both taking place at Pt. Loma University.

Middlebury College indoor track athlete Alexandra Krieg turned in an impressive performance today at the NCAA Indoor Track Championships at Ohio Northern University. The junior earned All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the 5,000 with a time of 17:25.11.

Two Compete At ECAC's

Two members of the Middlebury College women’s indoor track teams competed at the ECAC Championships hosted by Harvard over the weekend. Senior Sarah Wilson (Winchester, Mass.) set a new personal record by clearing 10’6.75” in the pole vault, placing 10th overall. Senior Jennifer Currie (Milton, Vt.) finished 11th in the 20-pound weight throw, with a toss of 47’1.5”.

The Panther indoor track teams took part in the Division III New England’s at two different sites this weekend. The men were competing at Tufts, while the women were in action at Smith. The women’s squad saw several relay teams turn in impressive performances on Saturday.

Indoor Track Races At Dartmouth

The Panther indoor track teams were in action once again this weekend as they took part in the Dartmouth Classic. Senior Jimmy Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) won the 3000 meters and qualified for the New England's, setting a new school record with a time of 8:40.14. Junior Alexandra Krieg (Wellesley, Mass.) also qualified, winning the 3000 in 10:15.76, while senior Ian O’Reilly (Meriden, N.H.) was a qualifier with a time of 1:58.80 in the 800, placing second.

Indoor Track Opens Season

The Middlebury College indoor track teams competed at Army last weekend, with meets at UVM and Dartmouth prior to the event. Following the season-opener at Dartmouth, first-year jumper Allison Astolfi (Merrimack, N.H.) earned a win in the long jump with a leap of 15’9.5” at UVM. Junior Benjamin Fowler (Bethesda, Md.) was a winner in the 600 meters in 1:26.72, while rookie Kristoffer Williams (Fairport, N.Y.) cleared 14’10.75” to win the pole vault.
