Saldanha Earns All-American Honors - Panthers Compete At NCAA's

Middlebury College women’s track athlete Kaitlynn Saldanha has earned All-American honors at the NCAA Track & Field Championships hosted by Marietta College in Ohio. After earning the same honor in indoor track this winter, the sophomore repeated the feat by placing eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:18.53. Saldanha broke the Middlebury school record during her qualifying run, finishing with a time of 2:11.82.

Five Women's Track Athletes Head To NCAA's

Five members of the Middlebury College women’s track and field team have qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships taking place from May 21-23 at Marietta College in Ohio. Senior Kelley Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) will compete in the triple jump, while sophomores Kaitlynn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine) – (800) and Alice Wisener (Ridgewood, N.J.) – (400 hurdles), will also be in action. First-year athlete Margo Cramer (Seattle, Wash.) will run in the 1500, while classmate Rebecca Fanning (Ipswich, Mass.) will compete in the 800.

Women's Track Athletes Earns ECAC Honors

A pair of Middlebury athletes earned All-ECAC honors over the weekend at the league's championship meet hosted by Springfield College. Sophomore Sophia Spring (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.) earned the honors with a third place finish in the 1500, ending with a time of 4:39.08. Rookie Mia Martinez (Ridgewood, N.J.) placed fifth overall in the 100 hurdles, hearing a time of 15.57.

Track & Field In Action At Open N.E.'s

The Middlebury College track and field teams sent athletes to the Open New England Championships at UMass.-Amherst over the weekend. Division I, II and III teams competed at the event, with some Panther athletes turning in solid performances.

Earning All-New England honors in the 400 hurdles was Alice Wisener (Ridgewood, N.J.). The sophomore finished sixth overall with a time of 1:02.96, qualifying for the NCAA’s.

Track & Field Competes At D3 N.E.'s - Women Third Of 40

The Panther track and field teams returned to action with a trip to the New England Championships hosted by Springfield College. The women’s team placed third overall among 26 teams competing, while the men were 11th among 25. Top eight finishers at the meet earned All-New England honors.

Track & Field Honors Announced - Schmidt Is Top Rookie, Beatty Is Top Coach

Several members of the Middlebury Track & Field teams earned All-NESCAC honors based on their performances at the recent NESCAC Championships hosted by Connecticut College. In order to be an All-NESCAC honoree, athletes must place in the top three in their events. Along with the All-NESCAC honorees, rookie Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) was named the most outstanding rookie on the men's side. Schmidt won the NESCAC title in the 10,000 meter race, finishing with a time of 32:09.82.

Women's Track Second At NESCAC, Men Place Sixth

The Middlebury College track and field teams took part in the '09 NESCAC Championships hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday. The women's team placed second only to Williams in the 10-team event, while the men were sixth in a meet won by the Ephs. The Panther women qualified four athletes for the NCAA’s, while three school records and one NESCAC record was set.

Track & Field Competes At Dartmouth

The Panther track and field teams took part in the Dartmouth Invitational over the weekend, along with UNH, UVM, RPI, Tufts and the host school. Sophomore Erin Toner (New Providence, N.J.) qualified for the NCAA’s in the 1500, finishing the race with a time of 4:38.78 to finish second overall. Senior Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) set a new school record with a 17’9.5” leap in the long jump to win the event, while placing third in the 100 hurdles (15.16).

Track Teams Hosts Middlebury Invitational

The Middlebury College track and field teams hosted their only meet of the spring at the Dragone Track and Field Complex on Saturday. The Panther men and women both won the meet, defeating the University of Vermont and Plattsburgh. Three different Middlebury women won two events on the afternoon, as did first-year runner Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) won who both the 1500 (4:08.53) and the 5000 (15:33.36).

Women's Win, Men Third At Springfield Invit.

The Panther track and field teams competed in their first east coast competition of the spring, battling Williams, Amherst and Stevens at the Springfield Invitational. Seven different Middlebury athletes won individual events at the meet as the women won, while the men placed third. Senior Kelley Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) qualified for the NCAA's in the triple jump and broke her own school record with a 37'5.25" effort, finishing in second place.

Track Teams Race Twice At Pt. Loma

The Panther track and field teams competed twice over spring break at Pt. Loma University in San Diego. In the opening races of the spring, sophomores Elizabeth Faust (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and Amanda Lee (Lincoln, Neb.) each picked up wins. Faust won the high jump by clearing 4’11”, while Lee was the victor in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 11:46.05.

Saldanha Earns All-American Honors

Middlebury's Kaitlyn Saldanha earned All-American status with an eighth place finish at the NCAA Indoor Track Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute in Indiana. The sophomore earned a time of 2:20.58 in the finals, but broke the school record with her 2:13.69 effort in the qualifying race.

Indoor Track At ECAC's - Saldanha Headed To NCAA's- Watch Live

The Middlebury College indoor track team competed at the ECAC Indoor Championships hosted by Tufts over the weekend. Sophomore Adam Dede (West Chester, Ohio) earned a ninth place finish in the pole vault with a 14’5.5” effort. Senior Kelley Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) had a solid jump of 36’4.25” in the triple jump, while sophomore Kaitlynn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine) finished 17th in the 800 (2:22.69). Based on her time earlier in the season, Saldanha has qualified for the NCAA’s and will compete in a time trial on Friday at the Rose-Hulman Institute in Indiana.

The Middlebury College indoor track teams were in action over the weekend, with the women competing in the N.E.’s at Bowdoin and the men at M.I.T. A top eight finish earned All-New England honors for each athlete.

Indoor Track Competes At M.I.T. Invitational

The Panther indoor track team had several athletes in action at the M.I.T. Invitational over the weekend. The women’s 4x400 relay team comprised of sophomores Katy Magill (Boxford, Mass.) and Grace Close (Fox Point, Wis.) along with rookies Julia Sisson (Omaha, Neb.) and Rebecca Fanning (Ipswich, Mass.) won the event with a time of 4:08.74.

Indoor Track Battles At Dartmouth

The Middlebury College indoor track team competed at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic over the weekend. Sophomore Kaitlynn Saldanha (Scarborough, Maine) won the 800, finishing with a time of 2:19.92, while senior Kelley Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) captured the triple jump with a 36’9.5” effort. Sophomore Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) earned a second place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (9.22), while placing seventh in the long jump (16’5.75”).

Indoor Track Competes At UVM

The Panther indoor track team was in action at the University of Vermont, taking on the Catamounts as well as McGill University of Montreal. The Catamounts won the meet, followed by the Panthers and the Redmen. First-year racer Michael Schmidt (Wilmette, Ill.) won his event with a time of 8:45.40 en route to a win in the 3,000 meters.

Indoor Track In Action At Wesleyan

The Middlebury College indoor track teams competed at Wesleyan over the weekend, with several athletes turning in top performances. Senior Kelley Coughlan (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Jennifer Brenes (Lawrence, Mass.) both won two events each to pace the women. Coughlan won the triple jump (35’8.5”) and the high jump (4’9”), while Brenes earned wins in the 55 hurdles (8.84) and the long jump (16’6.5”).

Indoor Track Opens Season

The Middlebury College indoor track teams opened up their season by competing at the 40th Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H. Several Division I, II and III teams were in action, along with some clubs and individuals.
