11/20/04 - Garrott Kuzzy gave a strong showing at the 2004 NCAA Division III Men's Cross country championships as he placed 104th out of 215 racers. 11/20/04 - The Middlebury College women's cross country team came up one spot shy of its fifth NCAA Championship as they placed second to Williams at the 2004 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships at Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Williams won the event with 110 points, followed by Middlebury's 129.

11/17/04 - Middlebury College men's cross country runner Garrott Kuzzey will race at the 2004 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships this Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.


Kuzzy is Middlebury's first male athlete to qualify for the NCAA's since Robbie Pedersen in '91.  Kuzzy was the State of <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Vermont Individual Champion earlier this season, while his 13th place finish at the NESCAC Championship meet earned him second-team All-NESCAC honors. His 15th place finish at the NCAA Regional earned him All-New England recognition last week, and a ticket to the NCAA Championships.

11/17/04 - The Middlebury College women's cross country team will look for its fourth NCAA Championship this weekend when they travel to <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Wisconsin for the 2004 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will be the host school for the races on Saturday, November 20th.

11/13/04 - The Tufts University Jumbos placed five runners among the first 20 finishers to successfully defend its team title at the 2004 NCAA Division III New England Regional Cross Country Championship held Saturday at the Twin Brook Recreation Complex in Cumberland, Maine. Middlebury had a strong showing, placing seventh in the 39-team event.


Garrott Kuzzy paced Middlebury in 15th place, followed by James Butcher in 41st, Jon Erwin in 62nd, Will McDonough in 63rd and Nick Digani in 64th. Kuzzy's impressive 15th place finish has qualified him for the NCAA Championships on Saturday.

11/13/04 - The defending national champion Middlebury College Panthers, led by senior Jessica Manzer (Palatine Bridge, N.Y.), edged out conference rival Williams College by six points to win the 2004 NCAA Division III New England Regional Women's Cross Country Championship held Saturday at the Twin Brook Recreation Complex in Cumberland, Maine.

10/30/04 - The Middlebury men's cross country team finished seventh out of 11 teams at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Colby. Garrott Kuzzy was Middlebury's top finisher as he placed 13th overall in 26:01, 41 seconds off the championship time. James Butcher placed 28th for Middlebury with a time of 26:39, while Will McDonough came in 35th in 26:51. Placing 37th was Nick Digiani in 26:57, while Sean Lena rounded out the scorers with a time of 27:11, good for 47th place.

10/30/04 - The Middlebury College women's cross country team won its sixth NESCAC Championship in the last seven years, this time, settling for a share of the title with Williams. The Panthers placed three runners in the top 10, led by Jessica Manzer, who placed second overall in 17:57, nine seconds off the winning pace. Marissa Cawley placed seventh overall in 18:30, followed by Andrea Giddings in 10th place with a time of 18:50. Kelsey Rinehart came in 19th place with a time of 19:12 for the Panthers, while Stephanie Nugent rounded out the scorers with a 21st place finish in 19:17.

10/1/04 - The Middlebury College men's cross country team captured the State Championship meet at Johnson State College.


Junior Garrott Kuzzy (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Minneapolis, Minn.) continued to be the team's top finisher as he won the State Meet with a time of 26:42, 41 seconds ahead of the next finisher. Placing fourth overall was senior Bryce Roche (Bozeman, Mont.) with a time of 28:21, followed by teammate Matt Horesta (Pomptain Plains, N.J.) in fifth place with a time of 28:23. Sophomore Sean Lena (Orono, Maine) in seventh (28:42) and junior Baker Lyon (Portland, Ore.) in 12th (29:20) rounded out Middlebury's scorers.

10/1/04 - The Middlebury College women's cross country was dominate at the State Championship meet at Johnson State College.


The Middlebury women claimed the top 17 finishers in the race, an amazing feat. Winning the race with a time of 20:44 was sophomore Andrea Giddings (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />S. Portland, Maine). Placing second was junior Kelsey Rinehart (Moorestown, N.J.) with a time of 20:57, followed by senior Marisa Cawley (Bennington, N.H.) in third place (21:11.3). Rounding out the top five finishers were sophomore Evelyn Dong (Wayland, Mass.) in fourth (21:11.6) and sophomore Stephanie Nugent (Cambridge, Mass.) in fifth (21:13.).

9/18/04 - The Middlebury men's cross country team placed three in the top five but it wasn't enough as St. Lawrence squeaked out the win at the Panther Invitational. Junior Garrott Kuzzy (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Minneapolis, Minn.) led the team in second place with a time of 26:51, 13 seconds off the winning time. Placing fourth was senior Nick Digani (Northfield, Ill.) in 27:18, followed by first-year racer Jim Butcher (Garden City, N.Y.) in fifth with a time of 27:24. Sophomore Will McDonough (Lancaster, N.H.) in 10th (28:02) and senior Bryce Roche (Bozeman, Mont.) in 16th (28:17) rounded out the scorers.

9/18/04 - The Middlebury College women's cross country teams opened up its fall season by winning the six-team Panther Invitational.

 


The Panther women placed six racers in the top 10 to win the race. Senior Jessica Manzer (<?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Palatine Bridge, N.Y.) won the race with a time of 18:57. Placing second was sophomore Andrea Giddings (S. Portland, Maine) in 19:10, followed by junior Kelsey Rinehart (Moorestown, N.J.) in fifth place with a time of 19:41. Placing seventh in the race was sophomore Stephanie Nugent (Cambridge, Mass.) in 19:56, followed by sophomore Makely Lyon (Portland, Ore.) in ninth (20:02.2) and sophomore Erin Archard (Vienna, Maine) in 10th (20:02.04).
