Women's Cross Country With Strong Sixth Place Finish

10/8/04 - The <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Middlebury College women's cross country team competed in the all division New England Championships in Boston last weekend, placing sixth out of 45 teams.

After not racing last week, senior Jessica Manzer (Palatine Bridge, N.Y.) came back strong with a third place finish in 17:46, 24 seconds off the winning time. She was the top Division III runner in the race and one of only three D3 racers in the top 11. Senior Marisa Cawley (Bennington, N.H.) was next for the Panthers in 27th place (18:41), followed by sophomore Andrea Giddings (S. Portland, Maine) in 51st place (19:03). Sophomore Stephanie Nugent (Cambridge, Mass.) in 73rd (19:19) and junior Kelsey Rinehart (Moorestown, N.J.) in 85 (19:29) rounded out Middlebury's scorers.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
