Panthers Win State Meets

The Middlebury cross country teams both cruised to victories at the State Championship Meets hosted by St. Michael's College. The men placed eight of the top 10 racers, while the women owned eight of the top nine finishers.

Leading the men's team was Jimmy Butcher, who won the race with a time of 25:26, 45 seconds ahead of Will McDonough, who finished in 26:12. Placing third at the event was Christopher Free in 26:20, followed by Jack Wambach in fourth (26:40) and Bruce Hallett in sixth (26:42). Peter Murphy, Michael Waters, Dan Kaufman and Chris Pelliccia were also top finishers for the Panthers.

On the women's side, Erin Archard won the race with a time of 18:19, eight seconds ahead of second place finisher Alexandra Krieg (18:27). Finishing in third place was Andrea Giddings in 18:28, followed by Makely Lyon in fourth (18:37) and Devyn Young in fifth (18:39). Other top finishers for the Panthers included Claire Schultz, Annie Sullivan, Emily Jacobs and Alison Brown.
