My mom and I drove up to Middlebury at the end of an exhausting college tour. That first sincere look around the campus convinced me that Middlebury looked exactly like a college campus should.
What is the one thing that makes Middlebury College a special place for you?
Even in my fourth year here, I still have moments walking across campus when my breath catches in my throat. I can't believe how lucky I am to go to school here, where I have made sincere friends, learned from renowned and passionate professors, and pushed myself farther then I thought possible. The newlywed glow has not worn off after three full years--that's a sure sign this a match made in heaven.
What is your best memory as a player at Middlebury College?
One beautifully warm Sunday morning in November five teammates and I ran the complete TAM trail--all 18 miles. We weren't doing it to help our training; our seasons were already over. We just did it because we liked to run. To be with people who shared my love of the sport so completely, who were so ready to take on this challenge just for the sake of proving something to themselves--it made me remember why I run.
What have you learned from your sport that you will use in your everyday life?
Anyone who has ever run around their block knows that running hurts. Even when you are doing it well, it is still incredibly painful. But the high that comes from pushing through that pain can't be matched. Working hard will bring rewards, and maybe even sometimes be the reward itself.]]>
